The Lakeside Theatre at Eisenhower Park presents three great concerts this coming weekend, with the Gin Blossoms and Spin Doctors highlighting the Friday show. Nassau County Executive Cup Soccer Games Saturday July 23
Mitchell Field will play host to the best soccer players and teams Nassau County has to offer at the 2011 Executive Cup. The event runs from 4:30pm to 10pm and features a Nassau high-school all-star game at 5pm and a match between the Mineola Portuguese Club and the Long Island Roughriders, at 7pm. The event will feature bounce castles, face-painting and other activities for children of all ages.

Children's Book Clubs at the Mineola Library
The Mineola Public Library offers children the opportunity to join book clubs. The Book Bites Book Club is for children entering grades 2-3 in the Fall and its first meeting is on August 17 at 4pm in the Library. Sign-up for this club begins on August 1 at the Children's Desk in the Library. The first book for the club to discuss will be Jane Yolen's "Commander Toad and the Space Pirates".
Author Kate DiCamillo's "The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane" will get the Chat-n-Snack Book Club going for its first meeting on August 24 at 4pm. This group is for children entering grades 3-5. Sign-up beging on August 8.

Richard Avedon Discussions at Nassau COunty Museum of Art
On Saturday, July 16 at the Nassau County Museum of Art, Paul Roth, Executive Director of the Richard Avedon Foundation, will lead a discussion about famed photographer Richard Avedon, whose artistry changed the face of fashion photography. The discussion begins at 3pm and costs $20 for non-members and $10 for members. The fee includes museum admission.
Additionally, one of the Museum’s donors will present a talk on Avedon’s work and his impact on fashion and portrait photography. These discussions will be included in the Museum’s “Brown Bag Lectures” series and take place on Thursday, July 21 and Thursday, August 18, from 1-2pm in the library. Bring a sandwich and enjoy the discussion about the legendary Avedon.

Gene Holm Orchestra Concert in Williston Park
The Gene Holm Big Band Orchestra performs at the Williston Park Gazebo on July 14 from 7pm – 9pm. The Gazebo is located at Liberty and Hillside Avenues. Bring your own lawn chairs and enjoy the jazz and big band tunes from this popular group. In case of rain, the concert will move to 3rd floor assembly room at Williston Park Village Hall.

Meeting at the Mineola Bicycle store on Jericho Tpke, the Mineola Bike Club sets off each Sunday morning for group rides. Two groups, the “A” and “B” groups set off for rides across Long Island. East Williston Historic Committee Needs Your Help
Any resident interested in sharing or identifying old photos that you may have of East Williston (events, people, homes, landscapes, etc.) and the surrounding areas are asked to please drop them off at the Village Hall. If you will be dropping off photos, please place them in a sealed envelope clearly labled with your name, contact information, number of photos enclosed, and information regarding the photos. With your permission, the Historic Committee may want to duplicate the photos and add them to the Village's collection.
